Hey ZOEFans!

Thanks for following along with ZOEFan.net's newsletters, interviews, and fancraft. I hope you've enjoyed the content. To help improve ZOEFan's offering in 2016 it would help me greatly to better understand ZOEFan's audience.

For that, I've set up a survey over at surveymonkey

ZOE launches The Gamers: The Series with "Season 0"

The Gamers: The Series is back with Newmoon's Story
How do you produce great content without a studio or a network backing you?

One way is to build a passionate fan-base to patron your production -- and that's exactly what Dead Gentlemen Productions and Zombie Orpheus Entertainment aim to achieve. With the announcement of a 5-episode "Season 0", DG and ZOE are pulling out all the stops to build enough support through their Patreon campaign to keep production moving with monthly episodes of The Gamers: The Series for Season 1 and beyond.

Most role-playing gamers will recognize the highly quotable cult classic: The Gamers. If you are among the uninitiated, stop what you are doing right now and watch the full movie from 2002.

Production quality has improve immensely over the last 13+ years and sequels have followed (among them Dorkness Rising, Hands of Fate, and Humans and Households), but this "Season 0" is the first to return to the characters introduced in the original and how they've been surviving IRL.

Season 0 Episode 1 focuses on Newmoon and the struggles of being an elf in modern America.

If you want to keep the series in production, please join their Patreon campaign.

Game on!

JourneyQuest: Dark Sword Awakens

The last 24 hours have been interesting. With facebook introducing the lightsaber meme for everyone's profile picture, I thought it would be fun to have Perf holding Kylo Ren's...

"Gods, I've missed violence!" - Sword of Fighting

When I posted this to my facebook page it brought up an un-anticipated dialog...

So, I pulled the JourneyQuest episode Douggie mentioned (JQ1 ep.5) and enlisting the power of fiverr to hire grizzlyharris to do the f/x. BOY HOWDY! did he do an amazing job, with a super quick turnaround. It was less than seven hours between when he accepted it at 9pm and when he sent the final version (at 4:10am)

To flesh it out I used:
  • Camtasia2 for all my video/audio editing,
  • The Crawl Creator at StarWars.com (using Camtasia2 to screen capture the video, the sound was dreadful but I was cutting that out anyway),
  • Photoshop CS6 for the title, intro, and credit boards, and
  • The JQ1 soundtrack performed by Steve Wolbrecht.

I hope you enjoy it and May the Farce be with You! --LMG

P.S. Thanks to Douggie Sharpe (The Potato Pope) for putting the idea into the universe, and Christian Doyle for wishing it to be a thing. grizzlyharris for the quick turn-around, and not least -- Jeremy Spray and Kathy Digby who jumped in for moral support.

Dead.FM Episode 15 released on Aug 17th which features a story of Don paying way too much for beer. DG has been working on the Demon Hunters RPG as well as brainstorming ideas on what to do with the Brotherhood Membership Cards. Don also announced that he "wrote the first ever checks to the Dorkness Rising investors. More than 11 years they've been waiting. This feels really good." This comes from the copious work they've done over that time as well as their successful blu-ray re-release.
